Description:  Pewter pendant featuring the engraved Sowelu rune, made for us by St Justin in Cornwall (UK). The alloy, 92% tin completed with copper and antimony, gives it strength. It comes with a 68 cm waxed leather cord with an adjustable sliding double knot, along with the official box and an explanatory certificate (in English). It belongs to the oldest runic series, the 24 Norse letters used by the ancient Vikings both for writing and for divination. The traditional meaning of Sowelu or Sowelo is "sun", which was seen as a life-giving force in ancient times. Its symbol of two equal halves represents the sun's progress along its yearly path, with the divisions of the winter and summer solstices. When found alongside Raitho in the runic circle, Sowelo represents the high spiritual force that guides along a certain path, while Raitho stands for the act of directing and controlling. Acting as supreme will, Sowelo is associated with spiritual guidance. It is the essence of your sense of self and your own worth. Sowelo also represents the wholeness achieved through the union of the self with higher awareness. This rune thus introduces an impulse toward self-realization and the particular life path you must follow. What is essential is becoming aware of your true essence and giving it form, because, after all, what one strives to become is, by nature, what one already is. The combination of introverted and extroverted energies present in Sowelo provides an abundant source of energy at this time. If, however, you find yourself overwhelmed by external demands, know that in order to gather the strength you need now, you will have to look within. There is no reversed position for Sowelo, but there is a danger in its strength, which can strike suddenly. Its shape also represents lightning. This levelling usually happens as part of Sowelo's effort to sweep away the old in preparation for something greater. Sowelu is only received upright. As with zodiac signs, with some approximation, you can choose your rune according to your birth period, or by looking for the meaning that best suits you or the person you wish to give it to, an original gift for anyone who loves the mysterious charm of the ancient Celtic and Norse runes.
