Sheila Wolk has a dream: to become a medical illustrator, the love of anatomy, beauty and perfection of forms made her have this dream in her drawer. Her career will be different, but the passion for everything that is perfect has remained and thanks to this she has created works of incredible beauty. He made his first works with the best Art director in New York, who offered her a world of knowledge. Sheila wishes to become a famous art director in turn, and is convinced that it will take her a whole life to do it, she is surprised when it happens in a few years and wins a prestigious award. He begins to get bored and decides to change his job, then begins his career as a freelance illustrator and adds to this a thousand other jobs to maintain himself. This up to the meeting with an art director who proposes her to become a sports illustrator, given her great knowledge of anatomy and her skill. He accepted the challenge and eleven months later he got his first show and appeared in newspapers and magazines. This career will last 23 years, then there will be a further turning point. In fact, she moved on to the sector of hyper-realistic paintings, making her own exhibition but unfortunately she only sold one painting and was thus forced to close. A difficult period begins for Sheila, who had used the money she had to make the show and the sadness takes over, she spends all her time crying and she seems to draw immersed in tears so she draws a siren and, .. here she entered the fantasy world !!! The Gatekeeper is the painting that opens up a new view of the world! To prepare to draw it, he begins to take hundreds of photographs of the roses and spends days looking at them in every aspect, when they bloom and when they fade to the point of death, to study to deepen he makes different drawings with the spray, naturally using the appropriate mask, it is only at the end of the work that realizes that you have not entered the filters. After a while he feels sick and passes out. Upon awakening he realizes that he has completely lost his hearing and vision. This terrible situation will last for 2 long years, in which she will be upset by fear and despair ... Sheila is in front of Gatekeeper trying desperately to see him but it is only the black who can observe and remains motionless to wonder how to convey the emotions that try in the painting. One day he sees it. First it's just a little pink gleam and then .... minute after minute ... he can see more and more and want to paint again, a petal, a leaf ... the importance of patience and of perseverance are clear to her and she understands that prayers can be heard! The Gatekeeper was her sa... at the end of the painting the sight and hearing had completely returned to her! Sheila then understands that every single work is of fundamental importance, regardless of the time it takes to make it. All the work done previously seemed almost a preparation for his true vocation !! as well as the steps through the use of different materials ... she worked with oil, water, acrylics and sculptures, but it is the pastel powder that contains all the most congenial characteristics in Sheila, which allow her to create the most beautiful shades of color that allow them to use their hands and not just brushes! Unlike others, Sheila does not think at all if she paints her work or not. She enters a world of her own, in which she is not allowed to enter, a world full of knowledge, passion and trust ... when she has finished what appears to her, she is an independent being over whom she has no control. She is totally devoted to the painting of the great masters of the past: Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, and of course admires the brotherhood of the Pre-Raphaelites, who studied at the highest levels. The first series of creations depicted mermaids, among these Metamorphosis stands out, which Sheila considers one of the most spiritual paintings, because it also implies religious subjects of trust and hope and is depicted in a sort of cross position to reinforce this mystical sensation. The word metamorphosis usually indicates the transformation from worm to butterfly ... in this case, however, it is a sort of rebirth. Butterflies also have an important position. It all started during a visit by Sheila to a relative in a state mental health institution. The girl was desperately drawing butterflies, repeating relentlessly that she could not fly ... Sheila asks her if she wanted to be a bird but she replies no, that she is a butterfly and that needs freedom ... this experience struck her deeply.The first creation depicting a fairy is Chameleon. Sheila wanted to capture the sudden encounter between a fairy and a human being ... Chameleon is surprised but also seems annoyed by the encounter ... it is a still image that paralyzes the fairy and which also suggests the paralysis of the human being who met. Suddenly there is another reality. Now Sheila can be said satisfied, the latest goal was to see her paintings transformed into figurines. Three-dimensionality was a dream that has now come true!
