Rachel Anderson has been fascinated by the world of fantasy since she was a child, when her parents started reading her books like Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. Since then her imagination has been incurably overactive. At an early age she started trying to bring all the characters and stories in her head to life by putting them on paper. But it wasn't until 2004 that she really started learning the basics and improving her skills to become a professional artist. Fascinated by the spiritual realm - as she could be if she could see it and so on - nor was she much influenced in her art. She loves nature and all the beauty that lives within it. The idea that there is an invisible world of magical creatures that are interconnected with nature and suffer if we do evil is very inspiring to her work. She has also been strongly inspired by early 20th century illustrators such as Arthur Rackham; Pre-Raphaelites, neoclassical and romantic like Waterhouse and Bouguereau; styles like Art Nouveau; and modern fantasy artists like Brian Froud and Kinuko Craft.
