Charlotte Bird

Charlotte Bird
Charlotte Bird is an English photographer and artist, who uses children as models for her photographic shots, and then transforms them into fairies with the help of a digital post-production, or by combining elements and a background painted in watercolors. His style is purely Victorian, with domestic environments or English courtyards, with warm and welcoming atmospheres. Her prints are available for this artist, with white cardboard border, measuring 30x40 cm. and the canvases (already mounted on a frame and ready to hang) that measure 40x50 cm.

Charlotte Bird revisits the Yorkshire landscape, almost a century after her cousins, Elsie Wright and Francis Griffiths found and photographed a fairy in their garden: legend or reality this is their story, the fact remains that the photos were taken in the 1917 and the studies done seem to prove their authenticity! Charlotte evokes the typical imagination of the Edwardian and Victorian period, the represented fairies touch the heart with their joy, their love for the game and their absolute innocence, immersed in the fairy town of Cottingley. In October 2005, Charlotte went to that place just to photograph it and create a series called "Tales from Cottingley" and during this period she believes she also saw a little fairy, at the beginning she had mistaken her for a butterfly, but it was too big to be and at the same time it was too small to be a bird, not to mention the very thin wings, it was all very magical and the creature disappeared among the trees. Charlotte was too enchanted to have the readiness to shoot a photo of the creature, Once the photographic phase is finished, Charlotte completes the work with numerous details to recreate an environment in which to make the fairies "live", specifically the wings are taken from photos of insect wings, birds, butterflies and after several hours of work the masterpiece is created! Charlotte Bird was born in 1958 in Bury St Edmunds in Norfolk (England) and lives there up to 5 years old, while her father works in the Royal Air Force (R.A.F.). He then moved to Wallasey, near Liverpool where he still resides with his partner and their 2 children. Her father read many poems and fairy stories to her and she has fallen in love with the small people since she was very young, at the age of 7 she starts taking her first photographs, always following in the footsteps of her father, who is also a good artist and photographer . She graduated in photography but it is only when her children grow up that she does a real job, and her works reproduce her passion for the Victorian era, the pre-Raphaelites and everything that brings her back to the past in an almost nostalgic evocation , between secret gardens, woods and enchanted places. He loves poetry very much and now he is delighting in writing, he would like to publish his own book of poems illustrated by his photos, we hope that his dream will come true soon.
