Miriam Wallis Jobe (13 August 1919, 8 September 2014) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Anna Johnson. Mimi loved art at an early age and began a career in fashion illustration at the age of 19. He married Harley Jobe Jr. in 1942 and began a 20-year adventure of shark fishing in Florida, mines in western Nevada, agriculture in Illinois and finally settling in the Carson valley in 1966. Mimi was involved in many activities of the local community. including Miss Douglas County, middle school resident artists and many landscaping projects. He was a lifetime member of the Chamber of Commerce and belonged to the literary club. When he started painting again, he hosted a Christmas show in his Autumn Hills Studio every year for 27 years with beautiful valley acrylics and Job's Peak. In 1974 he participated in the first Candy Dance craft fair in Genoa, where he shared a shop and a gallery with his son David, who at the time created jewelry, sculptures and decorative objects. Soon, he partnered with Joyce's Antiques by reproducing a valley scene for an annual Christmas card, and his son Barry also exhibited his art in Lone Tree Frame & Gallery, beginning in 1985. In the same year, the Bradford Exchange he selected many of his scenes and also his fantasy images to create collectible dishes, ornaments and music boxes. Mimi was also selected as one of the 100 most influential people in the Carson valley. Gardening was one of Mimi's passions and has been included on local CV tours for several years. He also loved going out to his son Harley's Juanita's Cantina Holbrook restaurant, reading and writing poetry, playing music on his piano, and spending time with his family, especially grandchildren.
