The Mhyr were in truth only simple, however ancient, pending. They were said to date back to the 67th Long Night, and showed the symbols in Elen’fhedi of the four elements, made with the purest crystals, protected by a light layer of enamel, and set in a rhomboid base. They were worn from time to time by the magician who owned the relative elemental. Too many times they had been torn from the neck of the defeated magician, and even before the arrival of Oregon the 21st, the original chains had been replaced by leather cords closed with a simple knot.
